"Chemical Ecology applied to pest management:
a Brazilian experience"

by Dr. Raúl Alberto Laumann from the
Brasilian Agriculture Research Corporation, EMBRAPA

The lecture will take place on Thursday, the 9th of May 2013,
at 15:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall B2
of the Biological Centre, Večna pot 111, Ljubljana.

Abstract:

In this talk the chemical ecology studies developed at Brazilian Agriculture Research Corporation, EMBRAPA will be presented. The team of the Laboratory of Semiochemicals of Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (Brasília, central Brazil) is developing chemical ecology researches including pheromone identification, plant-insect interactions, electrophysiology, developing of new formulations, and others. The potential, recent advances, and researches oriented to incorporate chemical ecology tolls in pest management in general and in use in combination with biological control, in particular will be discussed in the context of Brazilian agriculture development.
