The finalists for the Golden chromosome award 2012

The 6th congress of the Slovenian Genetic Society in collaboration with the Slovenian Society of Human Genetics was held this year in Maribor, between the 26th and 29th of September. Researchers from the National Institute of Biology attended the congress with several contributions.

As a part of the congress, the competition for the Golden chromosome for young researchers from the field of genetics and the competition for the best poster, are taking place traditionally. The evaluation criteria for the Golden chromosome competition are the actuality of the topic (genetics), the quality of scientific research (performed in Slovenia) and presentation of the work in the form of a 10-minute lecture.

Among this year's finalists in the competition for the Golden chromosome was also our colleague from the Department of Genetic Toxicology and Cancer Biology, Alja Štraser, who won the second place in the competition.
