Referential servis "Ask librarian" Staff:
We are library of the National Institute of Biology and the Biology Department of the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. We work like a special (research) and academic library. The beginnings of our library were in 1919, when the Botanical and Zoological institute of the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana was founded. At that time Prof. Jovan Hadži started with systematical collection of literature related to the field of biology. Nowadays the library spreads out in two locations (in Ljubljana, the Biology Centre Building and in Piran, The Marine Biology Station) on 595 m2 of usable area, offers 67 places in reading room, 8 PCs with access to the Internet and 2 PCs for searching in databases on CD ROM-s. Over 43 700 books and 304 current serials are available to our members. The purchease of serials is partially supported by Slovenian Research Agency. We have been members of the COBISS system (Slovene Co-operative Online Bibliographic System and Services) since 1992. User registration form (for Erasmus students, exchange students...) ![]()

On Wednesday, 6th June 2011, on Biotehcnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Urška Čepin defended her doctoral thesis entitled »Genetic variability and detection of Grapevine Fanleaf Virus« in the field of biotechnology. Her supervisor was prof. dr. Maja Ravnikar and her co-supervisor doc. dr. Maruša Pompe Novak.
