Instructions for Students of the University of Ljubljana - Biotechnical Faculty, Department of Biology


While producing graduate work, Masters or Doctoral dissertation tasks, you must be sure to take into account the guidelines given by Tomaž Bartol, Jana Bradač, Ivica Hočevar, Teja Koler-Povh, Nataša Siard and Karmen Stopar – Instructions for the creation of written graduate and post-graduate works at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, 2000.

When preparing classical Masters and Doctorate or Doctoral thesis, consisting of original scientific papers, follow these basic instructions on  http://www.bf.uni-lj.si/knjiznice/priprava-diplomskih-in-podiplomskih-del.html

For a fully made-up page (page nr III.) "KEY WORDS DOCUMENTATION" in Slovenian language, please come to the Biology Library, where we will give you a UDK code – a set of characters that describe your work by its content and put it in the universal decimal classification (UDC), which is one of the most widespread Library classification systems for classifying material by discipline. 

14 days prior to binding , please return to the Biology Library with the index with registered title of the thesis and with the complete print of written product. We will then check if you have followed the above instructions and issue you with a certificate which will be proof of your work at the Students Unit of the Biotechnical Faculty, Jamnikarjeva 101, 1000 Ljubljana.

When preparing electronic forms of graduate work, the instructions for the preparation of tasks in electronic form will be of certain help: (merging documents, reducing images, etc.).


Graduate works will be stored in electronic form on the Biotechnical Faculty server in a protected .Pdf format. Linking to the full text will be possible via the Digital Library of the Biotechnical Faculty web site.


Should your work contain certain confidential information, as an exception it will not be published on the web. However, if you and your mentor plan to publicise an article from the contents of your thesis, it is possible to postpone the publication online for a limited time. In both cases, the student is obliged to warn Biology Library staff about this in advance!
