«Activities of GMO analysis in China»

by dr. Litao Yang

from Shanghai Jiao Tong University

The lecture will take place on Wednesday, 16th of December 2015,

at 9 a.m. in the Lecture Hall B5

of the Biological Centre, Večna pot 111, Ljubljana.

Abstract:

As the rapid research and application of transgenic techniques in modern agriculture, more and more new GM crops were developed and commercialized in China. Since the GMO labelling regulation was issued in China in 2001, we began to strengthen the research and development of new techniques and methods for GMO detection, including the conventional PCR, real-time PCR, lateral flow device, digital PCR, and high throughput arrays. Also, the R&D of certified reference materials is another focus for GMO analysis in China. Now, we are trying to perfect the standard system of GMO detection, including the qualitative PCR methods, quantitative real-time PCR methods, and the guidelines of CRM producing, etc. Meanwhile, we are developing the new techniques for the GMO analysis with high throuput, accuracy, and low costs, such as the dPCR and microarrays, and trying to use them in routine analysis.
