In September 2017, the World Owl Conference 2017 was held in the Portuguese city of Evora,
which was attended by researchers from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North America.

At the conference, the researchers discussed various topics from the fields of ecology, protection, taxonomy, toxicology and behavior of owls.

Among the plenary lecturers was Assist. Prof. Dr. Al Vrezec from the Department for Organism and Ecosystem Research at the National Institute of Biology.
