Dear all,

With the upcoming completion of a targeted research project on Xylella fastidiosa, XylVec*, we kindly invite you to the symposium 'Spread of Bacterial Blight of Olive (Xylella fastidiosa) - a Threat to the Mediterranean and beyond?'

The symposium will take place on Thursday, September 26th 2019 at 9:30 AM at the meeting hall of the local community of Marezige, Marezige 24, 6273 Marezige, in the Primorska region of Slovenia.

In addition to presentation of the project's results we are glad to welcome again dr. Donato Boscia who will tell us firsthand about the results of ongoing European projects and recent developments in areas of outbreaks of this plant disease in southern Italy and the Mediterranean. Dr. Donato Boscia comes from the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of Bari, Italy, which in 2013 identified Xylella fastidiosa as a causative agent of bacterial blight of olive in southern Italy. Since then he has been actively involved in research work related to this bacterium, communications with the public, growers and official services, and especially in efforts of managing this dangerous disease.

Please note that the symposium language will be Slovene. The lecture of dr. Boscia will be given in Italian with translation to Slovene.

Hope to see you in Primorska.

Welcome.

With best regards,

Tanja Dreo, Project Manager
