Departments
The Institute consists of five research departments and the management administrative unit. Five departments are located in Ljubljana, at the registered office of the NIB in the Biological Centre, and one in Piran.

Departments are relatively independent as regards programmes, human resources and finance and have their own science and business strategies and basic objectives.

The science policy of the NIB tends to link the departments and looks for synergies in activities at home and abroad.
