FIELD OF RESEARCH

Investigation of biogeochemical processes in controlling elemental cycles, especially C, N, P, S and some metals (Hg) in aquatic (marine and lacustrine) environments including sediments and water column. Specific themes are linkings between sources and biogeochemical transformations of organic matter and mercury in the polluted coastal marine environment (Gulf of Trieste, northern Adriatic Sea).
