Biology Library and INDOK service
We are library of the National Institute of Biology and the Biology Department of the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. We work like a special (research) and academic library. The beginnings of our library were in 1920. At that time the Botanical and Zoological institute of the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana was founded and Prof. Jovan Hadži started with systematical collection of literature related to the field of biology.
Nowadays the library spreads out in two locations (in Ljubljana, the Biology Centre Building, and in Piran, the Marine Biology Station), offers 67 places in reading room, 10 PCs with access to the Internet. Over 43900 books, 3500 theses and 2225 current serials are available to our members. The purchase of serials is partially financed by Slovenian Research Agency. We have been members of the COBISS system (Slovene Co-operative Online Bibliographic System and Services) since 1992.
