Dr. Anka Kuhelj EX_EMPLOYEES

Working place: Scientific Associate

Department: Department of Organisms and Ecosystems Research

I graduated in systematic botany at the Department of botany and plant physiology at Biotechnical faculty in Ljubljana. During the study I actively participated in research of photoreception in the fruit fly and in the owlfly at the Department of physiology, anthropology and ethology for two years.

My research is focused on the interactions within the communication network in hemipterans (Hemiptera), i.e. in the southern green stink bug (Nezara viridula) and leafhoppers (genus Aphrodes). I am focused on their vibrational signals and behaviour. The major aim of my study is to contribute to the understanding of general communication processes and mechanisms that are important for understanding the evolution of communication strategies.
