From the time of its foundation, NIB has been aware of the importance of education, the value of knowledge transfer to younger generations and of a cultivation of the positive attitude toward the research work. Several researchers from NIB are habilitated professors at all Slovene universities and the Jožef Stefan International Posgraduate School, where they act as teachers and mentors.
Since our beginning in the early sixties, our Institute has been aware of the extreme importance of pedagogic work and the value of disseminating knowledge to younger generations. The NIB has been co-operating in educational processes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels since the very beginning. We encourage positive attitude towards research work in generations of students and thus educate future experts.

Pedagogic workers habilitated at our Institute lecture at Slovene universities.

The programme for research education and employment of PhD students is one of the basic instruments of science policy of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport.

It has been significantly contributing to increasing of the quality of research and new recruitment for research teams since 1985. PhD students participating in projects within the NIB during their postgraduate studies are regularly employed and work on basic or development-applied projects in the field of biology.

An average of 20 to 30 PhD students were educated at the NIB in the last five years. The best PhD students find employment at the Institute after concluding their education and represent human resources for its further development. PhD students employed by other organisations now provide close links to NIB with their respective organisations.
