FIELD OF RESEARCH

My current research explores the eco-physiology of phytoplankton in coastal seas, where I am particularly interested in the impact of the physical properties of the water column on photo-physiological properties of phytoplankton. Other main area of research is the evaluation and modeling of primary production of phytoplankton and environmental influences on its seasonal dynamics. My research outlook is the possibility of predicting photosynthetic parameters and productivity of phytoplankton in the Gulf of using only routinely measured physical and chemical parameters of seawater, which would significantly help to identify long-term trends associated with environmental and natural pressures on marine ecosystems.
