{frontpage}{/frontpage}Prof. Dr. Andrej Čokl represented the invited paper on the the 2nd Pan-American Meeting on Acoustics  which showed the recent results of investigations of researchers of the Department of Entomology of the National Institute of Biology in Ljubljana in the field of insect communication with sound transmitted through plants. The lecture drew high attention and was represented on internet sites of Live Science and Science.

Between 15th and 19th November 2010, the 2nd Pan-American Meeting on Acoustics which combined the 160th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, 7th Iberoamerican Congress of Acoustics and the 17th Mexican Congress on Acoustics, was held in Cancun (Mexico). More than 1000 scientists from North, Latin and South America as well as invited speakers from Europe, Asia and Australia joined the meeting. The main topics of the congress were Architectural Acoustics, Biomedical Acoustics, Musical Acoustics, Noise, Speech and Acoustical Communication, Forensic Voice Comparison and Forensic Acoustics, and Animal Bioacoustics. In the latter section scientists presented the most recent results of investigations of communication with sound of water and land vertebrates together with application of this knowledge at different levels.

Within this frame, Prof. Dr. Andrej Čokl presented the invited lecture which showed the recent results of investigations of researchers at the Department of Entomology of National Institute of Biology in Ljubljana in the field of insect communication with sounds transmitted through plants. The lecture drew a lot of attention and was reported on internet sites of Live Science and Science.
