DE Fizikalna oceanografija

 

Naša področja so predvsem fizikalna oceanografija obalnih voda, sedimentiloške raziskave in interdisciplinarne fizikalno-biološke raziskave. Ukvarjamo se z eksperimentalno oceanografijo, modeliranjem dinamike vodnih mas, lagrangevskimi individualnimi modeli, sklopljenimi s fizikalnimi-biogeokemijskimi modeli in raziskavami sedimenta, vključno z modeliranjem transporta. Prav tako se ukvarjamo z operativno oceanografijo in uporabo strojnega učenja pri napovedovanju visokih gladin morja.

- raziskovanje dinamike vodnih mas in sedimentov v obalnih morjih z uporabo analitičnih konceptov, numeričnih modelov visoke ločljivosti in terenskih meritev

- numerična napoved dinamike vodnih mas in sedimentov v obalnih morjih

- analiza izmerjenih oceanografskih podatkov in rezultatov numeričnih modelov z uporabo statistike in metod strojnega učenja

- disperzija polutantov z uporabo modelov visoke ločljivosti

- raziskave populacijske dinamike meduz z uporabo lagrangevskih individualnih modelov

- raziskave delovanja morskega ekosistema z uporabo sklopljenih fizikalnih-biogeokemijskih modelov

- numerično modeliranje dinamike vodnih mas in sedimentov z numeričnimi modeli visoke ločljivosti, ki se uporabljajo za načrtovanje marikulture, odlaganja izkopanih sedimentov iz plovnih poti, načrtovanje lege in hidravlike difuzorjev, disperzije odplak in meteornih voda

- pridobivanje, kontrola kvalitete in čiščenje izmerjenih oceanografskih podatkov

- uporaba statistike in metod strojnega učenja pri oceanografskih meritvah in rezultatih numeričnega modeliranja pri napovedovanju višine morske gladine

- analiza časovnih vrst oceanografskih podatkov in ocena klimatoloških trendov

- zagotavljanje izmerjenih podatkov in metapodatkov različnim mednarodnim infrastrukturam, ki uporabnikom omogočajo dostop do teh podatkov

- numerično modeliranje disperzije morskih organizmov in polutantov.

Druge aktivnosti

 

Popularizacija znanosti:

Na Dnevu odprtih vrat v Laboratoriju za dinamiko tekočin sodelujoči v DE fizikalna oceanografija pripravljajo poskuse za učence in dijake, ki prikazujejo:

- interne valove pod morsko gladino

- lastno (interno) nihanje v bazenih

- pomen Coriolisove sile, tako v atmosferi in v morju, ki je posledica vrtenja Zemlje (poskus z obarvanim ledom), kot na kopnem, ko imamo dodaten vrteči koordfinatni sistem (vrtiljak). Za poskus uporabljamo rotirajočo mizo.

 

Osebje DE fizikalne oceanografije tudi sodeluje pri prikazovanju delovanja oceanografske merilne opreme (merilniki temperature in slanosti, morskih tokov in valov).
