DE Dinamika Oceanov in Morskih Mikrobov

 

Ukvarjamo se z morsko mikrobno ekologijo, fizikalno oceanografijo, sedimentiloškimi raziskavami in fizikalno-biološkimi interdisciplinarnimi raziskavami.

 

Preučujemo interakcije med morskimi organizmi in njihovim okoljem, kjer posebno pozornost namenjamo preučevanju fizikalnih, kemijskih in geoloških vplivov na biološke procese. Predvsem preučujemo diverziteto morskih organizmov od mikroplanktona do želatinoznega zooplanktona in poskušamo določiti njihovo vlogo v prehranjevalnih verigah, kroženju nutrientov in dinamiki ekosistema. Ugotoviti želimo kako se ti organizmi odzivajo na podnebne spremembe in onesnaženost ter razširiti znanje o globalnih biogeokemijskih procesih.

- Raziskovanje strukture in funkcionalnosti mikrobnih združb (s poudarkom na bakterijah) in njihovega prilagajanja na podnebne spremembe in druhih okoljskih vplivov

- Vloga mikrobnih združb v kroženju nutrientov in obalnih morskih ekosistemov

- Raziskave interakcij med mikrobi in drugim planktonom s poudarkom na interakcijah z želatinoznim zooplanktonom, kjer preučujemo njihov življenjski krog in vpliv na biogeokemijske procese

- Porazdelitev in vloga potencialno patogenih, antimikrobno rezistentnih genov in mobilnih genetskih elemntov v obalnih morjih

- Biogeokemijsko kroženje živega srebra

- Biogeokemijsko kroženje raztopljenih in biodostopnih kovinskih elementov v morju

- Geokemijski in biološki procesi v hiper-slanih okoljih

- Raziskave populacijske dinamike meduz z uporabo lagrangevskih individualnih modelov

- Raziskave delovanja morskega ekosistema z uporabo sklopljenih fizikalnih-biogeokemijskih modelov

- Raziskovanje dinamike vodnih mas in sedimentov v obalnih morjih z uporabo analitičnih konceptov, numeričnih modelov visoke ločljivosti in terenskih meritev

- Kultivacija, določanje taksonomije in preučevanje fizioloških ter biokemijskih lastnosti določenih bakterij

- Analiza mikrobne aktivnosti na nivoju ene celice z uporabo mikroskopov
